IM v.360 Supporting Teacher Learning for K-5 School Leaders
How do we create an environment to support teachers in successful implementation of IM K–5 Math? This session teaches school leaders ways they can support teachers during the initial implementation of IM K–5 Math. Particular focus will be given to prioritized areas that most impact student learning at the beginning of implementation. School leaders will be given tools to focus their teacher support and classroom observations in ways that support teachers in collaborative planning environments.

How can instructional leaders play a role in facilitating ambitious and equitable mathematics instruction? School leaders will examine the key role of instructional leaders in establishing and supporting the conditions necessary for successful implementation of the IM curriculum. The session builds on instructional leaders’ understanding of the problem-based lesson structure and IM’s approach to access and challenge to ensure each and every learner has access to grade-level mathematics.

In this virtual academy, educators explore the problem-based lesson structure used in the IM v.360 curriculum, along with the specific resources in the curriculum to support classroom implementation.
Educators will experience a lesson, investigate and reflect on content and language routines, explore various supports, understand assessment materials, and begin to use student thinking as a vehicle for productive planning. They will gain experience navigating the partner website and learn how to find teacher and student materials.
